Leave a Legacy
Leave a Legacy Through Your Will
Once you have provided for your family and friends, you might wonder whether it is legal to leave money to a charity in your will. The good news is that the Fremantle Foundation (on behalf) of the Toodyay Community Fund(TCF) is legally able to accept bequests.
A community ought to be a great environment for living, working, and thriving. By including the TCF in your will, you can support this vision. Leaving a bequest is a special way to make a lasting difference in Toodyay’s community—ensuring your legacy endures.
It is a quiet, lasting way to say: “This place matters.”
Simple ways to include a bequest
You can choose the type of gift that feels right to you:
- If you wish to donate a percentage of your estate:
“I give __ % of my residuary estate to…” - If you wish to donate the residue of your estate:
“I give the residue of my estate to…” - If you wish to donate a specific sum:
“I give $______ of my estate to…”
Bequest Wording
“I give (type of gift) to Fremantle Foundation Limited (ABN 19 147 249 394), as Trustee for the Fremantle Foundation Trust (ABN 23 992 104 836) to be held on trust in the Fremantle Foundation Trust and request, without obligation, the Trustee of the Fund hold the bequest in the Toodyay Community Fund and to apply the funds as the Trustee decides/in favour of (insert your areas of interest for grant making) purposes. The executor may accept a receipt from the secretary of the trustee of the Fund as sufficient discharge for this gift.”
Peace of mind
- You can take care of your family first
- You can change your Will at any time
- There is no obligation to inform us
The Fremantle Foundation can work with you and your lawyers to put your charitable bequest in place.
We can provide examples of how a bequest that meets your wishes could work. This can be used for discussions with your legal representative. It is important to get independent advice to ensure your wishes are clearly expressed and meet legal requirements.
